Pluvialis squatarola

Grey Plover - Grey Plover is a widespread winter visitor to Britain and Ireland but I've yet to see one here. I came across many though in the Algarve at Cabanas De Tavira and Quinta do Lago in Portugal. They feed on invertebrates such as crustaceans and molluscs. Those shown here are in winter plumage. In the breeding season they show a black face, neck and belly.
