Calidris canutus
Knot - An Arctic-breeding shore bird which winters on our Irish coasts. Feeding on mudflats searching for molluscs, snails, slugs and tiny crabs. Sometimes called the Red Knot due to it's breeding plumage turning a lovely rustic red. Photographs from Sligo and the salt the pans at Tavira Portugal.
