Alectoris rufa

Red-legged Partridge - In many areas these birds are game birds, but they breed naturally in south western Europe in farmlands and open areas as here. They lays eggs in a scrape on the ground. They are most numerous in the east of Britain and a few in Ireland. I noticed these birds at a distance in the Algarve at Cabanas De Tavira and the Alvor Estuary in Portugal.
