Hirundo rustica

Swallow - or Barn Swallow. Summer visitor. Starts to arrive in Britain and Ireland around the start of April after wintering in South Africa. Mainly occurs on farmland with abundant flying insects attracted by livestock, and build nesting sites in farm buildings. Feeds mostly on insects.
