Lanius senator

Woodchat Shrike - A very irregular spring visitor to Southern England. Breeds in southern Europe, the Middle East and northwest Africa where it spends the winter. It is a very rare visitor to Britain and even rarer to Ireland. Shrikes impale the prey they have caught on thorns or barbed wire as a larder for feeding later. Perhaps that was the reason I spotted this one in the Algarve on barbed wire at Praia Da Rocha Portugal.
