This website is primarily for my own bird photography. Most of the images were taken in Ireland where I now live, and England. Most of the British images are from the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire areas. There are also a few other species included from my trips to the Algarve in Portugal and Australia. The Irish photographs are mostly from around the Counties of Leitrim and Sligo. Others from Counties Mayo, Cavan and Roscommon. Some even on the Dublin to Liverpool ferry crossing! I have always been interested in birds ever since feeding the ducks on the local park as a boy. I stayed keen on bird watching throughout my working life. I later took an interest in photography and videography, filming the odd wedding for friends and family but not on a professional basis. Now retired I combined the two pastimes into one by taking photographs of birds and nature. It didn't take me long to discover that this line of photography is so difficult. The subjects are not always obliging, nor do they stay still for too long! Huge telephoto lenses are not the answer either! Getting as close to the subject as I can without detection and without disturbance is the key. I have a lot to learn. One thing I have learnt is that no photograph is more important than the safety and well being of the subject. To this end my subject will always come first. My enjoyment comes more from them than any photograph or video image.

▼ Yours truly enjoying a lovely morning at Glencar Lake in Co. Leitrim. A lovely place to visit. The scenery is breathtaking. Enjoy this collection of photographs from County Leitrim, Southern Ireland, Derby, England and beyond. Photo: By Sally.

▼ This is a view of a Derbyshire rape field in full bloom. The picture really doesn't do it justice. To stand here on a late evening in spring in a dazzling blaze of yellow is a sight to behold. Taken in Allestree Derbyshire.

▼ Many of these photographs were taken in Co. Sligo. A beautiful county with dramatic mountain backdrops.

▼ There are also a few European species included from my trips to the Algarve in Portugal.
