Milvus migrans
Black Kite - Not the best photograph in the world! This Black Kite flew over us at Cabranosa near Sagres in Portugal. Too high and distant for me but managed to get this record shot of it, so here it stays until a better shot comes along! Slightly smaller than the Red Kite with smaller tail and darker plumage. They also have 6 wing tip feathers as opposed to 5 as the Red Kite has. They are more likely to scavenge for food. A lot of time is spent soaring for food such as rodents, birds, bats and fish.
