Calidris alpina
Dunlin - Commonest small wader. In winter they gather in large flocks and are an amazing sight to watch when they take flight. Found in a variety of marshy or coastal habitats, but most numerous on tidal flats or on banks of seaweed on shallow shores as this one is. These photographs taken in Co. Sligo and the Algarve.
