Gadwall - A common widespread duck of open wetlands. Adult females resemble a Mallard but are slightly smaller. Although a scarce breeder they are also present in Britain and Ireland. It is a dabbling duck feeding on water vegetation. This duck is on the Eurasian and African Migratory Waterbirds Conservation list. Jake was fortunate enough to take this photograph in the Algarve at Quinta Do Lago in Portugal.
