Stone Curlew - These birds are active at night, therefore having large eyes to locate food in the dark. They will feed on insects, worms and invertebrates. Sometimes taking small lizards or frogs. They winter in southern Europe and north Africa. A summer migrant to Europe. Although considered as waders they are mostly on land or near waters edge. They are perfectly camouflaged proving hard to locate. This one was photographed in the S'Albufera region of Majorca Spain during May.
