Emberiza citrinella

Yellowhammer - A beautiful bunting that perches high in trees or on top of hedgerows. It is a fairly large bunting with a long-tail and unmarked red-brown rump and elements of yellow in the plumage. Most European birds remain in the breeding range all year-round. Foraging is mainly on the ground, and the bird's diet consists mainly of seeds. It adds insects to its diet in the breeding season, particularly as food for its growing chicks. I last came across yellowhammers thirty years ago! I had a long wait to see these again in Alfreton Derbyshire UK. Not a shy bird at all which gave me plenty of time for photographs.
