Fringilla coelebs

Chaffinch - Probably the commonest British land bird. Unmistakable with it's grey head and pink breast. The female is not so brightly coloured. It builds a neat cup of grass lichen or moss. The clutch consists of 4-5 light blue eggs, with purplish-brown spots. Incubation takes 12-13 days with a further 13-16 days to fledgling . There is one brood in the season which lasts from April to the end of June. These taken in Greaghnafarna Co. Leitrim Ireland.
