Cettia cetti

Cetti's Warbler - Often heard before seen! The Cetti's Warbler has a very loud distinct song. Feeding on small insects and larvae. It habits lakes, marshes and rivers. I heard a lot of these birds in the Algarve at Vilamoura Reed beds Portugal where these photographs were taken. They are a very shy bird that heads for cover most of the time. It is named after an Italian ornithologist. The majority of these bird in England are in the southern half of the country. They did not arrive there until the early sixties and have since done well with around 2,000 pairs now breeding here.
