Circus cyaneus

Hen Harrier - This harrier has a distinct male and female plumage. The female is brown with a white rump patch as in the first image. So called because of past preying on fowl. They are ground nesters building nests of sticks, grass and heather. The male in the second image is white with black wing tips. (Too quick for a me!). They have an owl type face. I spotted this male at Castro Marim reserve in Portugal and the female at Armação de Pêra in the Algarve Portugal
