Larus argentatus

Herring Gull - Breeds mainly along rocky coastlines on cliffs, stacks and islands, in some areas on buildings, or on flatter areas of shore and at inland lakes. Commonest gull around the British Coast. The red spot on the beak distinguish it from the Common Gull and is a larger bird. Often seen around refuse tips or landfills. Images taken in County Sligo.
