Corvus monedula

Jackdaw - The grey heads and white/grey eyes distinguish these birds from the rest of the crow family. Breeding season starts in late April. Pairs stay together for several years. Usually several pairs are nesting in close proximity on rooftop chimneys, in caves and quarries. The nests are untidy stick structures. Very noisy when flying in flocks. These images taken in Leitrim, Sligo and Killcummin Head County Mayo.
