Garrulus glandarius

Jay - The Jay is a member of the crow family with exotic plumage. They never venture too far from the cover of woodlands where it feeds on caterpillars, beetles, seeds, nuts berries and acorns. Will also take eggs and young of other birds. Breeding starts in April in most of Europe. A pair will stay together several years, possibly even lifelong. The Jays here were in Greaghnafarna Co. Leitrim.
