Marmaronetta angustirostris

Marbled Teal - The beautifully marked marbled teal or marbled duck dives and also dabbles for food. Because of this it is placed in a genus of its own!
Very difficult to distinguish the sexes although the female averages slightly smaller than the male. It is not related to the teal at all despite its name. Male and female are almost identical. They feed mainly on seeds and small crustaceans. I came across this pair in the S'Albufera region of Majorca Spain.
