Haliaeetus albicilla

White-tailed Eagle - or fish eagle. One of these birds in flight spotted at Ballyconnell County Sligo. The tag in the first three gallery images identifies it as one of the birds being re-introduced into Ireland after an absence of many years. This is a juvenile. The juveniles have a darker bill and appearance than the adults also shown here. The White-tailed Eagle has a wingspan of around seven and a half feet! Huge raptor. Probably the biggest bird of prey in Europe.
